Taxi was a fantastic late 70’s/Early 80’s sitcom set in a dingy

New York taxi-cab garage.A whole wealth of comedic talent cut their teeth on this show;Andy Kaufman,Carol Kane,Christopher Lloyd and of course,Danny Devito.

After what seems like a eternity Season 2 is here, but dispite the quality

of the show itself, this box-set is once again let down by the total lack of extras and a rather poor print transfer (sorry im not technically minded to describe the film process, suffice to say the picture quality is only slightly better than a VHS tape.) Compared to the transmission on Paramount Comedy Channel, this print seems quite rough.

Anyway, the show istelf is great and is a must for fans of Cheers and Frasier as the humour is simular.

4 stars, would have been 5 if not for the issues i raised earlier.

Lets hope the remaining seasons get a release now.

I bought this dvd from germany, also season 1. I remembered the show from my teenager years and I had warm feelings about it. I was so happy i found the series on amazon.uk, as it isnt offered in germany.

like the first season season two is great as well. it has the touch of “normality”, which is missing in most more recent series and films. as said in the title, its sensible, funny, congenial, intelligent and natural :)

I hope the other seaons get relaesed too!

well, the picture is good enough, im watching the show with a video-beamer and apart from one very grainy episode i cant complain that much – off course its not a hd-production from 2004.

Taxi counts to my favorite series, like yes minister/prime minister & frasier.

I decided to buy this DVD after seeing a re-run of the “Rev. Jim gets a pet” episode on digital TV – the DVD was released in the UK a week later, which is good timing. The first season has lovely moments from Louie and Latka etc. but only one Rev. Jim episode. Season 2 has more from the Rev. Jim, but the real joy of the series is the ensemble playing, which was largely filmed – as the best UK TV comedy shows are – in front of a live audience. Sometimes it shows, but that’s part of the fun and it’s like going back to the good old days of repertory theatre. The plotlines occasionally stray into sentimentality (e.g. the repulsive child in “Tony and Brian”) but for the most part it doesn’t miss a beat and Louie is reliably vile throughout. If you never saw Taxi, give it a go – best to get seasons 1 & 2 together, or you’ll miss Danny de Vito’s classic first entrance. If you saw it first time round, I hope you’ll find like me that the best of it hasn’t dated – except for the evocative shots of NY City in the shambolic seventies.

It is as funny as when I first saw it more than 25 years ago.
