Taxis to the San Ysidro border from Rosarito?
-
Is it feasible to travel by taxi daily to the border, cross on foot, and take the trolley to SD for work? Then do the opposite coming back? What would be the costs associated? Thanks.

A lot of people cross the border this way to work every day, but usually from within Tijuana, not from Rosarito. And I wouldn’t do it by taxi. That would be pretty expensive (sorry, I don’t have a current price quote for you – but it ain’t cheap. Gas is pricey.)
If you won’t have a car and you’re going to attempt this from Rosarito, plan to do it by bus, or one of those minibuses (small, stripped out VW vans) which travel a very defined route. Even better would be if you could find someone to carpool with.
But this would be a darn long commute. The drive to Rosarito is about 45 minutes, then you’d have to wait in line at the border (which is usually at least an hour), and then you’d have the trolley ride into San Diego.
If you’re thinking of attempting this, I’d suggest looking for a place closer to the border – say in the Playas area at least. My dad used to do this. But he drove his own car and timed his commute to start after the morning bottleneck at the border.
