How do taxis charge fares in LA?

    The fare is determined by where you start the trip. If you are picked up in the city of Los Angeles the fare will start at $2.85 plus $2.70 a mile in $.30 increments. If you traveled exactly 1 mile without stopping (waiting at lights or heavy traffic) the fare should be $5.55 – 2 miles would be $8.25 and so on… Wait time is $.30 for every 37 seconds delay ($29.19 per hour)

    Look at the sticker below or for a larger copy check the blog link. You will see one in any legal cab in Los Angeles – it is required. If you don’t see one like it – get out, it is a bandit cab.

    Cities like Beverly Hills, Pasadena, West Hollywood and Santa Monica charge different rates, but also post a sticker.
