In the Philippines, have you taken a taxicab recently? Is it true taxis are now required to issue receipts?

    no they aren’t required or at least they don’t listen to that law.

    yeah its true. but as for now only the airport taxis complied with it.
    most of the taxi drivers and operators are complaining about this new regulation.
    the government said they would force the other taxis to follow it.
    they say it would prevent overpricing of fare in the taxis and the receipt would be useful in tracking the taxis coz it display impt info about the taxi like plate number, TIN, and distance traveled.

    No, not yet. I heard over the radio that the actual implementation will be on December 2009.

    it is depend on the passenger if he/she need receipt for the purpose of fare reimbursement or to use it as proof of expenses. So, taxi’s should have it globally.
